Enniskillen Lakelanders: A Season of Success and Community Spirit (2026)

The Enniskillen Lakelanders Swimming Club wrapped up their 2025/26 season in style, showcasing the talent and dedication of their swimmers, coaches, and volunteers. This season has been a testament to the club's resilience and growth, despite the challenges of regular travel and a demanding schedule.

The highlight of the season was undoubtedly the End of Season Gala, a celebration of the swimmers' achievements. The gala brought together swimmers of all levels, from beginners to national championship contenders, providing a platform for friendly competition and camaraderie.

One of the most memorable moments was the 'Mother of All Relays', a thrilling five-minute relay event that had spectators on the edge of their seats. Coach Chelsey Weir's team emerged victorious, showcasing the club's spirit and teamwork.

But the festivities didn't end there. The club organized an afternoon of activities at Blue Green Yonder on Castle Island, offering a fun-filled break from training. Paddleboarding, archery, and a family barbecue provided a perfect blend of relaxation and camaraderie.

The annual prize-giving ceremony was another emotional and uplifting moment, recognizing the hard work and progress of the swimmers. Mollie Kate Brewster and Charlie Brewster took home the Group A Cup, while Elin O'Donohue, Poppy Brownlee, and Jakub Mikiewicz Lumayad claimed the Group B Cup. Ella Neal and Darragh Collins were honored in Group C, and Sophie Hanna and Ryan Mongan in Group D.

The introduction of the Coaches' Cup, sponsored by OHS Trophies, was a special recognition of the coaches' dedication. Holly Barkley received the Girls' Coaches' Award for her dedication and improvement, while Conal Walker was honored with the Boys' Coaches' Award for his outstanding national qualifying times.

Sarah Speer was awarded the Committee Cup for her commitment to coaching and support, even after stepping away from competitive swimming. The club also celebrated the achievements of swimmers completing their first year in Omagh and recognized senior swimmers for their contributions.

The season's success continued with the Swim Ulster Swim Festival 2026, where a squad of 21 Lakelanders competed against strong provincial opposition. The festival introduced a mixed-age 300m relay, which the Lakelanders dominated, securing a bronze medal. Holly Barkley stood out with an impressive medal haul, including a six-second personal best in the 50m butterfly.

Anna May Hill, Emily Irvine, James McSorley, Anton Neal, Haralds Uzulins, and Finley Walker-Leonard all made significant contributions, with personal bests and podium finishes. The younger swimmers gained valuable experience, and the club's dedication was praised by PRO Janette Mongan.

The season's end saw six Lakelanders qualify for the Irish National Championships, a testament to their hard work and talent. The Enniskillen Lakelanders have once again proven that community sport is a powerful force, bringing people together and fostering a sense of pride and achievement.

As the club looks ahead, the final weeks of the season have left a lasting impression, reminding everyone of the strength and spirit that define the Enniskillen Lakelanders. With the season's achievements in the rearview mirror, the club is poised to continue its success and build on the foundation of community and excellence.
